Afghanistan veteran Jaco van Gass has paid tribute to his fallen comrades today after winning gold at the Paralympics.

The 35-year-old, who lost his left arm to an RPG missile while serving in Afghanistan, claimed the gold meal in the men's C3 3000m individual pursuit.

As Brits and their Afghan allies continue to scramble to the airport in Kabul to seek sanctuary on one of the final evacuation flights out of the country, van Gass chose to reflect on the sacrifices made by his fallen colleagues.
