When I speak with my foreign friends about Singapore, a topic that often comes up is that of the kiasu and kiasi nature of Singaporean behaviour. We laugh at it, but many of us can easily identify other Singaporeans overseas by tell tale quirks—we love to queue (there must be something worth queuing for!), many of us can be slightly paranoid about our personal belongings, and it is often rare to find other Singaporeans outside of the safe shopping and eating tourist traps.
