A 51-year-old construction worker fell to his death from the 10th storey of a work site along Tampines Ave 10 around 11am, yesterday morning.

The worker, believed to be a Chinese national, had been performing formwork when he fell from the 10th floor and landed six storeys down, on the fourth level, according to a Ministry of Manpower (MOM) spokesperson.

The deceased was found lying motionless and was pronounced dead by paramedics who had arrived at the scene. The police are investigating the case as an unnatural death while MOM has issued a full stop work order and is conducting its own investigations.

The work site the deceased had been working at is presently occupied by China Jingye Engineering Corporation, which is building a 626-unit condominium called The Alps Residences. The condominium is developed by the Southeast Asian division of MCC Land, which itself is the real estate arm of China’s Metallurgical Corporation (MCC) Group – a Chinese state-owned enterprise.
