Man kicked and slapped little boy in mini-mart: the police can't do anything about it?
Parents, would you see red if you made a police report about an adult male assaulting your child only to hear, "Have you said enough? I'm busy," from the police officer?
That is what a mother is claiming.
In the wee hours of this morning, a mother, Vivien Chan, posted a scathing post about the man who assaulted her son at their neighbourhood mini-mart and the inspector who could not be bothered to do anything about it.
She had even done the inspector's work for him, collecting all the evidence and even hunting down the culprit. She had the man's address, photos of her son's injury and even the CCTV footage of the assault.
However, no arrest was made.
The boy in the video is five-year-old Javion.
In the video, the boy was seen playing with a kick scooter when he was given a kick from behind. It was not clear if he had bumped into the man, prompting the man to lash out at the little boy all of a sudden.
However, that was not the end of it. The video continued with the man walking away but shortly returning to give the boy a tight slap, which actually left a red mark on his face.
Maybe the boy did something to offend the man but we can hardly imagine it being bad enough to warrant a kick and a slap, especially from a complete stranger.
Initially, when both parents got wind of the assault, they rushed down to find the culprit but was unable to find him. They then called the police, who arrived after 25 minutes.
However, nothing could be done. The police officers left them a number to call if they came across the culprit, promising to come arrest the man if found.
Did that happen though?
They found the man and where he stayed but the police did not make any arrest. Three policemen turned up when they called the number they had. However, what they said had changed.
The case was pending instruction from the investigation officer (IO) Mr Huzair. The IO, however, was supposedly too busy to take action, as per the Facebook post.
What do you think the mother should do?
