Mass stomach infection at Yishun school! 14 students sent to hospital!
While it can't be considered an epidemic, a mass stomach infection at Northland Secondary School in Yishun had many concerned.
A total of 14 students were sent to KK Children's Hospital and National University Hospital via ambulances yesterday (11 Jan) after they started vomiting and experiencing stomach pain.
Most of them were diagnosed with stomach infection. Eight of the 14 students were considered well enough to return home to rest while six are still hospitalised.
Only two of the 14 students have felt well enough to return to school today. The rest are reported to be still recovering.
Most of the students affected are from the lower secondary. The source of the infection is still unknown and investigation is ongoing.
As precaution, Northland Secondary School has closed the canteen for inspection and thorough cleaning today. The canteen will only be reopened next week.
The affected classrooms and toilets have also been cleaned and disinfected.
