Veteran athletics coach faces outrage of modesty charge
From 2011 to 2013, he was alleged to have used criminal force and molested two teenagers.
Now 73 years old, Loh Siang Piow, also known as Loh Chan Pew, faces five counts of outrage of modesty. He reported to State Courts on Monday (22 Jan).
The 16-year-old and 18-year-old victims cannot be named, to protect their identities.
Should Loh, an athletics coach, be found guilty at the end of the five-day trial, he can be punished with jail of up to two years, fined or both. Due to his age being above 50 years, no caning will be imposed.
A celebrated athlete in his prime, he was part of the local 4x100m men’s relay team received silver at the 1973 South-east Asian Peninsular Games. He is also Singapore Athletics' vice-president (competitions organising), currently on a leave of absence.
