Going up and down escalators at MRT stations, a 43-year-old man had taken upskirt videos of women on five different occasions between November 2016 to 11 Jan 2017.

Network engineer Mohammad Zaque Mohammad Ali was sentenced to eight week’s jail on Monday (12 Feb).

Two additional charges were taken into consideration.

In the incident on 11 Jan, a woman had alighted from a train at Paya Lebar MRT station around 9.40pm and taken the escalator up.

Mohammad Zaque stood behind her and took videos up her skirt. Another woman alerted the victim that he had been doing so, and she confronted him and asked for help from the passenger service centre.

The accused’s laptop and phone were seized during the investigation. Videos of other women were found on his phone, such as a female student at Tampines MRT station in November 2016, and a woman in a black dress in January 2017.

He admitted to using his Samsung mobile phone to intrude on the privacy of women.
