Counterfeit currency suspect arrested, will be charged
He had used counterfeit $50 notes twice in Choa Chu Kang over the weekend, and for that he was arrested.
In a statement on Tuesday (13 Feb), the police announced that the man was believed to have presented two fake notes at a convenience store on Saturday.
The police received a report on Monday around 1.50pm and seized the two notes.
Commercial Affairs Department officers identified the suspect through further investigations and arrested him at Choa Chu Kang Street 51 at 5pm on the same Monday.
The authorities also seized a printer, laptop and several pieces of $50 and $100 notes, which are believed to be counterfeits.
Preliminary investigations also show the man is believed to be involved in another similar case on Sunday.
He will be charged in court for using counterfeit currency as genuine.
