Students in bullying video from Westwood Secondary School disciplined & counselled
A video of a group of Westwood Secondary School students physically bullying their classmate was widely shared on Facebook.
According to , six Secondary 3 students were involved, including the victim.

One student could be heard egging his friends on to teach another classmate a lesson.
Subsequently, one of the three students at the back of the class started throwing chairs at the victim, who was seated at the desk and using his phone.
Subsequently, the same student approached the victim and began slapping, punching, and kicking him.
He then tipped the victim’s chair over and rained punches to his head while the victim was on the floor.
The target tried to defend himself by covering his face with his arms.
At this point, the student filming said that it was enough.
However, despite the warning, the attacker continued to kick the victim.
He ended by throwing a chair towards the victim, who was still lying on the ground.
No adults were seen in the video.
In response to Mothership.sg queries, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has provided a statement from the school.
Principal Abdul Harris B Sumardi said that the institution was aware of the incident on the same day it occurred, and counselling and disciplinary actions have also been meted out.
However, it is not clear what the disciplinary actions are.
The school is also working with the parents to “help the students learn from the incident”.
This is the statement in full:
The school was aware of the incident on the same day it occurred – 9 February 2018. We took immediate action to counsel the students and mete out disciplinary measures. We have also worked with their parents to help the students learn from the incident.
