His friend had vomited in the taxi and the driver asked for payment to clean up.

This so angered naval diver Johnny Seah You Tian that he punched Tan Buck Chai in the face at Hougang Avenue 7 on 28 May 2017. He was sentenced to four weeks’ jail on Monday (5 Mar).

Tan had picked up Seah and two others, Shawn Tay and Tracy, around 5.05am at the Clarke Quay taxi stand. They were directed to Block 345 Hougang Avenue 7 to drop Tracy off.

However, along the way, she vomited.

When they arrived at the block, Tan collected $23 for the fare and asked for $80 to clean up the vomit.

A dispute over the fee arose, and Tan lowered it to $60, which Tay paid.

Seah was angered by the additional fee and punched Tan. The trio then walked away.

Tan required medical treatment at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and was given three days’ medical leave.

Seah paid him $124 in compensation.
