S’pore could lose first-ever S’porean EPL signing Ben Davis to Thailand or England

The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) has announced that the first-ever Singaporean to be signed to an English Premier League side Fulham would have to serve National Service regardless.
This has come as a surprise to some Singaporeans.
Many probably recall recent cases of deferment, such as Singapore’s first Olympic gold medallist Joseph Schooling and fellow national swimmer Quah Zheng Wen.

Forgo your Singaporean citizenship and go UK to play for good. Don't waste your soccer talent here. Soccer is not a one man game. Only one good player is not enough. Singapore can never make it to the World Soccer scene.

What is the government doing.. hope they realize that if they don’t give him deferment he doesn’t even need his Singapore citizenship given his mixed blood..
