From a much-anticipated indie concert to a cutting-edge contemporary dance performance, there’s plenty to look forward to this week. You can also usher in the weekend with an unprecedented yoga experience that can only be described as cosmic, and top it all off with free-flow pisco and an incredible hawker-style gastronomical experience.

The XX in Singapore

Tthe excruciating wait is almost over, as indie phenomenon The XX finally performs on our shores this Tuesday. After two unforgettable gigs here in 2013, the English trio has graced the stages of some of the biggest international festivals, from Coachella to Glastonbury. Now, they will be returning to Singapore with their critically-acclaimed new album, I See You, so fans can look forward to hearing their favourite tracks, including the ethereal “Angels”, performed live. Performing with them is special guest and fellow Brit, Sampha.

TheatreWorks presents: The Roundest Circle

Ever contemplated the beauty of lines, curves, and edges interacting with each other? Or perhaps you just hope to better understand contemporary dance? Either way, be treated to a visual spectacle at TheatreWorks’ The Roundest Circle, which sees a trio of dancers present a highly experimental composition, and explore the boundaries of physical and creative space with their bodies. Each of the performances will be followed by a post-show discussion with the piece’s choreographers and dancers, as part of the company’s efforts to bring avant-garde artistic expressions to Singapore.

Yoga and Soundscape Meditation

Prepare to wind down for the week, as you’re transported into a tranquil realm in this relaxing and utterly immersive experience at Palm Ave Float Club. For an hour, under the guidance of yoga trainer Theresa Shan, you will float in a sensory deprivation tank completely devoid of all distractions – light, sound, and gravity – to ease your mind into a meditative state. Through such meditation, the process seeks to reverse the harmful effects of stress. Complemented by Jean Reseki’s soul-throbbing binaural mix, this yoga session promises to be out of this world.
