Public holidays in 2018 are out, it's time to plan for vacations! There are only 4 long weekends this year but with a little planning, you can double up your holidays and make full use of them.

Here's a list of the official public holidays in the year of 2018.

Make your Chinese New Year holiday worthwhile

Chinese New Year's eve is on a Thursday and by taking a 4-day leave starting from 12 Feb to 15 Feb, you can have a 9-day break in total.

January to March recommendations

(Public holidays are highlighted in red, those in yellow are dates recommended for you to apply leave)

There are 4 public holidays in January, February and March, with a 3-day long weekend each month.

Long weekends are: New Year (30 Dec - 1 Jan), Chinese New Year (16 Feb - 18 Feb) and Good Friday (30 Mar - 1 Apr).

April to June recommendations

There are 3 public holidays in April, May and June, but only one long weekend in June: Hari Raya Puasa (15 Jun - 17 Jun).

The recommended leave dates are 30 Apr and 28 May. With a 2-day leave, you can enjoy two long weekends: Labour Day (28 Apr - 1 May) and Vesak Day (26 May - 29 May).

July to September recommendations

Both National Day and Hari Raya Haji fall on August, however, there isn't any public holiday during July and September so let's just focus on work.

The recommended leave dates are 10 Aug, 23 Aug and 24 Aug. Extended long weekend: National Day (9 Aug - 12 Aug) and Hari Raya Haji (22 Aug - 26 Aug).

October to December recommendations

If you're running out of leave, try not to plan for a holiday during October as there is no public holiday in that month.

Deepavali (6 Nov) and Christmas Day (25 Dec) both fall on Tuesday this means that you'll only need to apply leave on Monday to have a lovely vacation out of this busy city.
