5 cases of seniors in Singapore who died alone at home in recent years
Asia One·2021-09-06 19:01
SINGAPORE - When they died, none of their family members may have known - or cared.
A 74-year-old, known to neighbours as Lily, who lived alone with two cats, had left a light on in her Bedok North Avenue 2 flat. She had not been seen feeding stray cats in her neighbourhood or hanging out her laundry as she used to.

Such a sad ending for these elderly. Hope more can be done like creating a buddy scheme matching volunteer with elderly people staying alone. These volunteers will check on them regularly plus assist them to seek whatever help they need

I think govt should pair up lonely elderies alone living in the same building as like a buddy system or maybe to promote neighbourly care if your neighbour living beside is a lonely elderly. Or the govt can implement elderly care activities for most estates with the highest number of elderlies living alone. And maybe TCs can also assist by compiling a list of all the lonely elderlies living and make alternative visits to further observe for mental or physical health issues... And for some chit chat sessions so to keeo supporting the mental wellbeing of the lonely elderlies.. This can ensure the safety and efficiency if any unforeseen circumstances happen so as to prevent situations where their bodies are left as rotting corpse instead
