Appreciate the brilliance of Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool now, because it won't last forever

Appreciate this team, this manager, this era.Its something that can get lost in the humdrum of going from one match to the next, focusing on one team to the other. It should be remembered just how truly brilliant, and legendary, this current Liverpool side are under Jürgen Klopp. It shouldnt need the passing of time to appreciate where this side ranks in the pantheon of great Liverpool sides. Some sides are only given their due after the fact, when history has already been written and time moves on; this shouldnt be the case with Klopps iteration.Since his arrival in the autumn of 2015, Klopp has overseen some 322 matches as Liverpool boss, winning 194 of them, drawing 69 and losing 59. An incredible 686 goals have been scored in nearly six years. His points-per-win ratio stands at 2.02, the second-best in club history. Only Kenny Dalglishs swashbuckling side of the late 1980s and early 90s can better the German, with 2.07.Klopp also, of course, ended the clubs 30-year wait to lift English footballs highest gong, a league title, after so many near misses in the 2000s and 2010s.Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated ArticlesBut its not just the stats are impressive: its the intoxicating, and at times dizzying, style of football that hes instilled in the club. Despite the miracle of Istanbul and the cups won under Rafa Benitez, that era of Liverpool is chiefly associated with some of the dourest, most sterile football imaginable. Under Benitez, Liverpool were partially responsible for Jorge Valdanos now-legendary sh*t on a stick line after their notoriously turgid Champions League duels with Jose Mourinhos Chelsea in the mid-'00s.Benitez may have won trophies during his six years at Anfield, but not many would be in a hurry to re-watch many games of that functional era.Klopps ultra-aggressive, ultra-pressing, high-octane football is the antithesis to the Benitez era. Its pleasing on the eye, and its won over the neutral. Fans of other clubs can glance at Liverpool supporters with envy, who get to watch a proactive manager set his team out to win every week in an entertaining way. One can never describe watching Klopps Liverpool as a chore, something to begrudgingly sit through at weekends out of love for the club.Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated ArticlesKlopp has been a firm believer in trusting in youth, and we have seen this in the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones all breaking into the first team over the last few years, when other coaches simply would've thrown out the cheque book to bring in a bigger name. His passion mirrors Liverpool fans' passion for the club.More importantly, however, is the fact that the Klopp era wont last forever. There will be no 26-year dynasty like Sir Alex Ferguson created at Manchester United. Theres an expiry date of June 2024 for the club under Klopps watch. The time will come when the German will no longer be in charge of the club, with it being likely that he might take over the German national side, and the heavy metal style of football we have all come to cherish at Liverpool may disappear (dependent on who is brought in to replace him).Thats less than three years away. The brilliance of Klopps reign shouldnt be taken for granted, or what the club has achieved domestically with a much smaller budget in comparison to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United. European success came despite the clubs spending not coming close to matching the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain over the last half-decade.Treasure the Klopp era now. You shouldnt need to wait a decade to appreciate it after its all been said and done. The end is closer than you think.Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated Articles
