"This train carries lost souls ... this train dreams will not be thwarted," Bruce Springsteen sang on hours after Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were inaugurated as the new President and Vice President of the United States. The musician, synonymous with the plight of the working American, stood in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial. His gaze fixed off into the distance, beyond the Washington Monument toward the Capitol Building where just two weeks ago insurrectionist terrorists ransacked the shining hill of our democracy. They had Springsteen lit from a ring of white light below him, surrounded by the night of Washington, D.C.
