The musician, synonymous with the plight of the working American, stood in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial. His gaze fixed off into the distance, beyond the Washington Monument toward the Capitol Building where just two weeks ago insurrectionist terrorists ransacked the shining hill of our democracy. They had Springsteen lit from a ring of white light below him, surrounded by the night of Washington, D.C.
