If you have been scrolling Chinese social media lately, you may have noticed a rather unusual business trend.
Hunky men, preferably shirtless, to help their businesses go viral and attract customers.
One of the latest examples comes from Hangzhou's Sijiqing clothing market, where a menswear store recently hired muscular male dancers to perform to Psy’s hit song ‘Gentleman’ outside its entrance.
Videos circulating online showed the men dancing, showing off their physiques and drawing massive crowds.
While some called it ridiculous, others will remember how Abercrombie & Fitch stationed shirtless male models outside its Knightsbridge flagship store here in 2011.
Of course, the trend isn’t limited to fashion.
A nail salon in Shanghai recently went viral after hiring handsome male manicurists and attendants.
Many joked that customers weren't exactly there for the nail polish.
Then there are China's increasingly famous climbing companions.
The trend first gained attention at Mount Tai before it picked up at other scenic spots across the country.
