Danny Ings could leave Southampton for a ‘bigger club’, confirms Ralph Hasenhuttl

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl admits the club could sell Danny Ings next summer to a ‘bigger club’.

The England striker has 18 months to run on his Saints deal and the club are keen on extending Ings’ stay on the south coast.

However, Ings already earns around £75,000-a-week and Southampton cannot afford to hand the striker a significant payrise in the current financial climate.

Ings has notched eight goals in 16 appearances for the Saints this term and the striker wouldn’t be short of suitors should he opt to leave St Mary’s.

‘We are in a situation where every club is struggling with finances,’ said Hasenhuttl.

‘We are trying to keep the club in a healthy way and it is not only about Ingsy, there are others who also want to extend their contract.

‘If it is not what we expect to pay in the future, then we have to look for somebody else who is cheaper, but we know it always should be win-win for both.
