A fire broke out in an unoccupied accommodation block at the Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) on Pulau Tekong on the afternoon of June 20. The fire alarm was triggered at about 1.50pm that day, and the fire was extinguished by BMTC staff who heard the fire alarm and spotted the smoke, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said in a statement on June 21.
