Genk technical director Dimitri de Conde has taken the unusual step of telling Liverpool that they should try and sign his striker Paul Onuachu as they could ‘really use’ him.

The 27-year-old Nigeria international had an incredible season last time around with Genk, scoring 35 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

He made his name in Denmark with Midtjylland, where he scored 74 goals in 181 games, before moving to Belgium.

He is known for his goals, but also for his incredible physical presence, standing 6’7″ tall.

De Conde feels Liverpool could do with a man of the Nigerian’s stature, specifically during their 1-1 draw against Chelsea before the international break, when he believes Onuachu would have won the Reds the game.

‘Did you see Liverpool against Chelsea? Liverpool have the best strikers, but none with the same profile as Onuachu,’ Het Belang van Limburg.

‘He would have scored against 10 men. I’m not saying that Paul would play 90 minutes every week in Liverpool, but a club like that could really use him.’

Onuachu found the form of his life last season, winning the Belgian First Division top scorer and the Footballer of the Year in the country.

He was linked with a move to West Ham over the summer, with the Athleticreporting that he would cost the Hammers just £17m, but they never made the move.

The giant forward has started this season with two goals in four league games and one in two Champions League appearances.
