Harvey Elliott is dealing "outstandingly" with the horror injury that has stalled his Liverpool career - as the reaction of his team-mates emerged.Elliott last week underwent an operation to repair the fracture dislocation of his left ankle suffered during the Reds' 3-0 Premier League win at Leeds United earlier this month. While no timescale has been set on his return, the 18-year-old is expected to face a long rehabilitation before returning to action later in the season. And Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders is confident the togetherness of the Reds squad can help Elliott on his road to recovery. Harvey is Harvey, a young boy and he deals with it outstandingly, I have to say, said Lijnders, speaking on Monday.READ MORE:Liverpool told they will go nowhere in the Premier League this seasonIf you see our squad of players, we have so many who had not similar injuries, but similar situations where they had a long-term injury."You see that our group is a proper family, you see how they reacted when it happened - Naby was with tears in his eyes next to the pitch, Curtis was emotional. You see how much it means to all of us, not just from a football point of view, but from a young player point of view (who was) in such a good moment and we lost one of our better midfielders. He deals with it really well and we have a really strong structure in place with our medical department, with all the guys around, we try to support him as much as we can in these early stages. With a long-term injury, each day is a victory - the small things, step by step, and hes focusing on this.Sign up to our free LFC newsletterGet all the latest Liverpool breaking news, team news, transfer rumours, injury updates plus analysis of what's next for the Reds. You'll also get the latest transfer talk and analysis straight to your inbox every day with our FREE email newsletter.Sign up here - it only takes a few seconds!Elliott is among a number of Liverpool players who will miss Tuesday's Carabao Cup third round tie at Norwich City, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, Thiago Alcantara and Neco Williams also ruled out.Curtis Jones, though, has been confirmed as making his 50th appearance for the Reds, while goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will also start. And Lijnders believes a lengthy run in the competition - Liverpool have reached the quarter-finals in three of previous six seasons under Jurgen Klopp - will benefit the development of youngsters."This competition has proven gold for us," he said.
