With seven goals and 11 assists last season in 43 Championship games - the majority of those coming at the age of just 17 - the future of Harvey Elliott, clearly, is a big one. "I know Jonathan Woodgate well, and hes quite close to [Liverpool sporting director] Michael Edwards," Stewart Downing told Goal back in March."He asked me about Harvey when he came to Blackburn, and I was like f*****g hell, hes brilliant!. Its his game understanding: when to pass the ball, when to dribble, when to come inside, when to stay wide. For someone so young, its top-drawer." Right from the off at Anfield, Elliott impressed Liverpool coaching staff with the maturity and development of his game, and that continued with an impressive showing throughout pre-season.Despite being a Liverpool wonderkid who impressed hugely in his first full senior season - delivering goals and assists in big numbers, as well as eye-catching performances - there are still plenty who fail to realise just how big a talent Elliott really is.READ MORE: Jurgen Klopp breaks silence over Jordan Henderson future with 'important' Liverpool claim"I still think there is an element of him going under the radar," said Reds reporter David Lynch on a special podcast exclusively for members of the Blood Red Club."There are still some Liverpool supporters who are not aware of what they have got on their hands here, and he is an absolutely huge talent. "The first time I remember seeing him for the U23s after he arrived from Fulham, I remember being blown away just by his sheer quality. "He has had that year out on loan and more years to develop, and coming into this season, this is the big one where he really gets in and around the first team and really challenges for a spot."We don't expect him to start regularly, but there will be playing opportunities, and I think by the end of the season, everyone will be aware of just how big of a talent he is. "He has a good arrogance about him - as a character he is nothing like that, but on the pitch he has complete belief and that is understandable given how good he is. "I think is something that can give him a boost and the biggest excitement for him this season could be running out in front of a crowd. "He won't want to be patient - he will be knocking on the door, just because of how good of a footballer he is. Even though the standards are high, he will want to pick up minutes and the opportunity will be there."Unlock EXCLUSIVE podcasts and videos by signing up to the Blood Red ClubThis story is taken from a podcast that only Blood Red Club members can listen to and watch.Club members receive exclusive content every week direct to their inbox - and it doesn't cost them a penny. A year later, that accidental loan spell has done him wonders, and he is only more ready to make an impact. "Im confident in myself, I feel like I can get in the team," Elliott told LFCTV as pre-season began.Must-read Liverpool FC news"Whether its coming off the bench and making an impact, whatever it is, Im confident in myself. Thats the main goal, just to be in and around the team, get minutes."He doesn't lack belief, but then why would he? After a campaign like Elliott produced last season, he is now fully ready to take the next step in his Liverpool journey. The plan last summer was for Curtis Jones to take on the minutes of Adam Lallana, only for the 20-year-old to feature over twice as much as Lallana had the previous year, beating Lallana's total by over 1000 minutes.A similar plan is in place with Elliott and Shaqiri, and Elliott will already have the Swiss' total of 819 minutes last season in his sights.
