Jurgen Klopp appeared to drop a hint about Harvey Elliott's role this season for Liverpool's clash against Norwich. With no Gini Wijnaldum, Klopp has been forced to reinvent his midfield three, which have so often looked to the Dutchman to be the driving force. It does not appear that Klopp has decided on a replacement for Wijnaldum either within the squad or out of it, with no middle men brought in yet.Youngster Elliott had been expected to play a role this term, having not been loaned out and given plenty of minutes in pre-season.But it seems as though Klopp may not think the 18-year-old is quite ready yet, and will ease him into first-team duties, having left him on the bench for Saturday evening's clash with Norwich.Harvey Elliott was left out of the starting XI for Liverpool's opening game by Jurgen KloppJames Milner played in the deeper role against the Canaries, with Naby Keita handed a rare start, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain took up Wijnaldum's spot on the left of the three.Fabinho, Elliott and Ben Woodburn were all on the bench, with Jordan Henderson and Thiago both missing out entirely through injury. And Klopp admitted ahead of the game that it was virtually impossible to replace a player of Wijnaldum's importance to the side in one transfer window. Will Harvey Elliott become an important player for Liverpool this season? Have your say in the comments sectionThe German manager admitted in his pre-match press conference: "Gini was the most consistently available player."I loved his way of playing and how reliable he was. But he's not here anymore."You tell me if you would sign a midfielder, and I will think about it."You tell me which player we need. I'm really interested. What type of player would you like to sign?(Liverpool FC via Getty Images)"Should he score more goals than Gini? Should he defend better than Fabinho? Be more creative than Naby, Curtis, Ox and Harvey?"Defending the decision not to splash out on a new headline midfielder, Klopp insisted that the funds were not there to do so."We cannot compare to the other clubs. They obviously don't have any limits," he stated. "We have limits."Another important player whose future looks a little unclear is Jordan Henderson, who has entered the final two years of his contract. But Klopp maintained that he is entirely relaxed over his captain's situation, hinting that talks were ongoing behind closed doors."I know what's going on behind the scenes and am relaxed," Klopp also stated.NurPhoto via PA Images Jordan Henderson of Liverpool during the pre-season friendly match between Liverpool FC and CA Osasuna at Anfield on August 9, 2021 in Liverpool, England. Things will go their way and be handled like they should be."That's all I can give you as news but if I'm relaxed about this then you can imagine it's going in the right direction."
