Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is pushing to be reunited with an “old acquaintance” next summer, according to a source in Spain.Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been linked with the Reds, who have been named as “one of the major stakeholders in taking the services of Lewandowski”.Next summer Liverpool will apparently make a move for the 33-year-old, as per Fichajes.The source claim the Reds are looking at the Poland striker as a serious option next summer after an uneventful transfer window this summer.Only Ibrahima Konate was added to Klopp’s squad, while Georginio Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson moved on.The report references Bild and Kicker, suggesting that Lewandowski has asked to leave the Bundesliga champions.The prolific striker is looking to test himself in “other leagues” after spending his whole career in Poland and Germany.Sky Sports News reporter Paul Gilmourrecently claimed similar, that Lewandowski was mulling over a move.Gilmour said last month: What we are being told is Robert Lewandowski wants a new challenge away from Bayern Munich.Let me just bring you some context on this. But the problem is that Bayern Munich have put a valuation of around £110m on him. It makes it very difficult for a potential buying club to come in and pay that kind of money.That prompted Ian McGarry on the Transfer Window Podcast, via the Liverpool Echoto claim that Bayern has offered the forward to Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd.Nothing materialised in the last window though. Not surprising given Bayern’s huge £100m-plus valuation.His advancing years also make him a purchase with no sell on value. That may well be a reason why Liverpool will not get involved in a deal. Lewandowski would be a quick fix in attack, but would leave Klopp looking for his successor very quickly.Lewandowski has two years to run on his existing deal.
