Liverpool to honour Andrew Devine as 97th Hillsborough victim

Liverpool will add Andrew Devines name to Anfields Hillsborough Memorial and amend their shirts to recognise him as the 97th victim of the disaster.The 55-year-old died last week, more than 32 years after he was badly hurt in the tragedy at the Reds FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989.At his inquest Liverpool coroner Andre Rebello said: I find that it is more likely than not that Andrew Devine was unlawfully killed, making him the 97th fatality from the events of April 15 1989.A minutes silence will take place ahead of Liverpools first home match of the Premier League season against Burnley on August 21 and a special Kop mosaic featuring the Hillsborough eternal flames with the number 97 will be displayed.LFC will also be reviewing its current 96 emblems with plans to change them to 97 in memory of Andrew, said a club statement.This will include the emblems on the backs of the playing shirts, although it is not possible to change them for the 2021-22 campaign at this point.Liverpool Football Clubs thoughts continue to be with the Devine family and all those affected by the Hillsborough disaster.
