Manchester United are reportedly set to capitalise on the good feeling following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo by installing Richard Arnold as Ed Woodwards successor as chief executive.Woodwardresigned as United executive vice-chairman in the wake of the collapsed European Super League.United fans though were quick to voice their disapproval of the plans. They even forced the postponement of a Premier League game against Liverpool with an extensive protest.It led Woodward to promise that United do not seek any revival of the Super League as supporters expressed their disgust.The 49-year-old became executive vice-chairman in 2012 and played a key role in the fateful Super League. United announced Woodward would see out his duties and step down at the end of the year.But Sky Sports reportthat a changing of the guard could be announced “as soon as next month”.Woodward, in April, said:  “I am extremely proud to have served United and it has been an honour to work for the worlds greatest football club for the past 16 years.“The club is well positioned for the future and it will be difficult to walk away at the end of the year.”Sky claim a Manchester United spokesman has declined to comment on what they have described as “speculation”. And along with football director John Murtough he reports into Woodward.Woodward’s role takes in long-term strategy and that is expected to be taken on by Arnold.Co-chairman Joel Glazer said in April: “Ed Woodward has served the club with great distinction. On behalf of everyone at United I would like to place on record our sincere thanks for his tireless work and dedication.“His contribution to the club has been massive.
