Meta projected that about 10% of its 2024 revenue, or roughly US$16 billion, would come from ads for scams and banned goods, according to internal documents seen by Reuters.

The documents show Meta estimated users were shown 15 billion scam ads daily on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, with about US$7 billion in annualized revenue from higher-risk scam ads.
