Migrant workers say 30-minute rest for lorry drivers, buddy system 'good' but mode of transport still dangerous
Today·2022-10-24 08:00
SINGAPORE — While new measures to make ferrying of migrant workers safer on lorries are welcomed, some of them feel that using lorries as a mode of transport for long distances is inherently dangerous.
They also raised questions about how the new measures will be enforced by the authorities and carried out by their employers.
On Wednesday (Oct 19), the Land Transport Authority, Ministry of Manpower and Traffic Police announced measures that will kick in next January.

Govt can implement soany rules and regulations but do MOM think can the employer or employee will follow. Who are going to check on this especially during evening time the driver pick up worker from one sitb and reach the dome will they rest for 30 minutes definitely no they will think of gng to other site to pick up other workers so that they come back early and rest. Because some company may have only one driver so how will this possible MOM will also don't have time to check on this. They implement the rules but all construction company will take it as don't care attitude as long don't get caught or nothing happens
