Measures will be taken to ensure the safety of commuters taking public transport, even as demand increases following the Circuit Breaker period, said Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong at a Multi-Ministry Taskforce Press Conference on 19 May 2020. These include requiring commuters to avoid speaking to each other or on their phones, and to keep their masks on at all times, so as to avoid spreading droplets in an enclosed space. Public transport operators will also step up their cleaning of surfaces within these spaces, to ensure that the public transport system remains a safe mode of travel. Video: Mediacorp
