Shot in the arm for Pahang futsal club

PETALING JAYA: Pahang Rangers Futsal Club (PRFC) have received a timely boost ahead of the Malaysian Premier Futsal League.

The club have signed a deal last week with new sponsor SMGB Group, a corporate company involved in mining business, as they get ready to start the new season, which is expected to begin later this year.

Besides sponsoring the team, both sides will also be involved in coaching clinics to unearth new talents, especially potential players from among the Orang Asli community in Lancang.

Together, both the corporate body and the futsal club will also be engaged in work that supports the conservation of elephants at the Kuala Gandah National Elephant Conservation Centre.

The signing ceremony was attended by PRFC president Tengku Fahd Mua'adzam Shah while SMGB Group was represented by its chief operating officer Datuk Lee Chung Han. Also present were the group's chairman Tunku Mohamed Alauddin Naquiyuddin.

Tengku Fahd said: "This is a huge milestone for our club, we welcome SMGB into our family. Their presence will inspire the team to strive for excellence in futsal."

Pahang Rangers emerged as the runners-up in the inaugural league in 2019 and they were determined to go one step better last year but unfortunately, the league was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
