The prompt that saw Ronaldo and Mendes shatter Juventus agreement with Man Utd transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo and his agent reportedly broke an agreement with Juventus when he signed for Manchester United last month.Ronaldo’s whirlwind return to Old Trafford happened in the final week of the transfer window.Once it was clear that Ronaldohad decided to leave Turin, United moved quickly, despite Manchester City looking like the favourites to sign the 36-year-old.United soon announced they had secured a deal to bring the Portugal forward back to the club subject to the agreement of personal terms, a medical and a visa. And Juve confirmed United were paying £12.86m for Ronaldo plus £6.86m in potential add-ons, in a statement released early on transfer deadline day.And the striker has already started paying back that fee with four goals in three matches. But Ronaldo’s departure has left a hole in the Old Lady’s attack after Jorge Mendes broke a promise with Juve.Cadena Sers Carrusel Confidential, via Sport Witness state that Ronaldo’s agent Mendes reached an agreement that his client would only leave before August 15.That would leave Juve the opportunity to bring in a replacement. After that cut-off point Ronaldo was supposed to stay put so that Juve were not left short in attack. The landscape changed though after Ronaldo started on the bench against Udinese in Serie A on August 22.That was seemingly the straw that broke the camel’s back and “accelerated everything” and “broke the pact”.And once Ronaldo’s decision had be made, there was really only one place he was heading, especially when PSG distanced themselves from a move. The transfer has hit Juve hard. They remain winless in Serie A and are in the bottom three with just two points. They have also managed just four goals in the league.Subscribe for free to TEAMtalk’s daily newsletter…The story fits with the anger that Juve legends Alessio Tacchinardi and Sergio Brio recently voiced.Tacchinardi told Tuttosport: Ronaldo should have left in a different way, not on his private jet while (Massimiliano) Allegri was talking to the team before the game against Empoli.I expected a press conference to say goodbye to the fans. They deserved something different. There are no more legends such as [Alessandro] Del Piero, [Francesco] Totti, [Paolo] Maldini or [Javier] Zanetti, but it wasnt nice to hear from Ronaldo that he was going back to a place he feels like home.He put Juventus in a difficult situation, leaving a few days before the end of the transfer window, it is impossible to replace a goal machine like him.Four-time Serie A winner Brio, 65, added: Juventus deserve more respect, I didnt expect Ronaldo to snub the club like this. It was not nice of him.”READ MORE: Raphael Varane opens up on Man Utd partnership with Harry Maguire
