Tokyo Electron said it will strengthen compliance across its subsidiaries after its Taiwan unit, Tokyo Electron Taiwan Ltd., was indicted for allegedly stealing confidential 2nm technology from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).

Prosecutors in Taiwan charged the subsidiary with four violations under the Trade Secrets Act and National Security Act, seeking a total fine of NT$120 million (US$3.8 million).
