Transfer windows are like Christmas: everyone wants the latest and shiniest new toys on the market. But not everyone gets what they want. Liverpool fans have certainly felt at least a tinge of those emotions experienced by a disappointed child on Christmas morning this summer. With the club deciding not to sign a new midfield in the transfer window, the club's business has certainly been lacklustre. Following Georginio Wijnaldum's departure to Paris Saint Germain in June, many had expected the Reds to bolster in the department, not least given that the likes of Renato Sanches, Marcel Sabitzer and Eduardo Camavinga have all been available in the market. But all three seem to be moving onto pastures new away from Anfield, with Klopp's men not seemingly concerned about the situation. There is a reason why. While a shiny new toy is always more alluring. The truth is Liverpool already have an ample amount of toys at their disposal.Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Curtis Jones, Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keïta and now Harvey Elliott have proven they can all play in a central midfield role.Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated ArticlesThat leaves Liverpool with eight central midfielders in their first-team squad and it means Klopp is theoretically capable of fielding at least two different central midfields capable of competing in the Premier League. With ample options, there is no necessity to bring in someone of Sabitzer, Sanches or Camavinga's ilk, particularly given the fact that neither of the three would significantly bolster the squad.Camavinga may be a great talent, but his form has petered off in the last six months in France and he would need time to settle in the Premier League as well as much needed and regular minutes in order to continue his development.Liverpool would simply not be able to offer that to the French international at this current moment (and there is a question over whether Real Madrid can either, though that is no concern to Klopp). Many fans questioned why Liverpool had not entered the race for Wolves-linked Renato Sanches and the answer is clear once again: Sanches only made 14 starts in Ligue 1 last season. His wages are also large enough to put Liverpool off.Marcel Sabitzer has moved to Bayern Munich, and is also a fine player, but there are question marks whether he would fit into Liverpool's system considering he only ranked in the 15th percentile for pressures made per 90 in Europe's top five leagues, according to Fbref. His transfer fee to Bayern was low but that does not mean Liverpool should have bought him simply because of his availability. Sabitzer is not necessarily strong in his ball progressing ability, nor is his reliable defensively and there are many in Liverpool's squad who can do a similar job in midfield if not better. The three may have more 'charm' to them because of their novelty, but the truth is Liverpool have better options in their very own squad already.Given a tough financial climate, there was simply no room to make a luxury signing for players who would have not been a significant upgrade on Klopp's current options and who would have had to adjust to a new system and league. Despite the furore, Liverpool were right to steer clear of the available midfield additions this summer. Next summer, and the next few transfer windows, are likely to present the club with better opportunities to sign desired targets who could be a genuine upgrade on the club's current options. With time, the club's business will be justified. For now, fans need to remain patient. Read MoreRelated ArticlesRead MoreRelated Articles
