This particular scene from Mayday’s recent tour has to be one of the most touching concert highlights we’ve seen.

The Taiwanese band held their “5525+2 Back to That Day” 25th Anniversary World Tour at Taipei Dome on Sunday (Jul 5), where they picked a fan during their usual song request segment.

The band’s leader and guitarist, Monster, 49, first spotted a girl decked in taekwondo gear, while her father beside her was holding up a sign that read: “Taekwondo Girl requesting a song.”

“We definitely have to pick her. If we don’t, we might get kicked,” Monster quipped.

After confirming that the girl had achieved a “black belt” rank, Monster even invited her to demonstrate a flying kick on the spot, prompting the audience to erupt into applause.

Following that, the band’s lead singer, Ashin, asked the girl why she decided to take up taekwondo.

And her answer was one that no one expected.

“I want to protect my younger brother because he is a student with special needs. I’m afraid he might be bullied at school,” she said.

As soon as she finished speaking, Monster immediately burst into tears on stage.

“This is too touching, I can’t take it!” he said, prompting Ashin to note: “Monster is crying. He started crying in one second.”

Ashin also encouraged the girl, saying he believed her younger brother, who was also at the concert with her and their father, “will definitely feel the courage and the love behind his sister’s actions”.

As if the moment wasn’t already touching enough, the girl went on to request Mayday’s 2000 hit 'Tenderness'.

The reason? “I hope everyone can treat my brother with a gentle heart,” she explained.

The deeply moving scene eventually led Ashin and Monster to walk off the stage and sing the song together with the girl and her family.

Ashin also took the opportunity to thank all special education teachers: “You are the angels of these angels.”

The emotional scene was enough to bring many viewers to tears, even those watching the clip through their screens.

“I cried instantly. Those who also have children with special needs can relate even more deeply,” one netizen wrote.
