‘Allah’ socks: High Court quashes technician’s conviction over offensive Facebook posting

KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 — The High Court here today quashed the conviction and six-month jail sentence of a technician who pleaded guilty to posting offensive content on Facebook related to the sale of socks bearing the word Allah.

Justice Datuk Ahmad Bache made the ruling after allowing a review application filed by Chiok Wai Loong, 35, to set aside the conviction and sentence handed down on him by the Sessions Court on March 22.
