“I’ll Make Sure You Lose Your Job!”: Edison Chen Allegedly Threatens Flight Attendant When Asked To Give Way To Fellow 1st Class Passenger
Edison Chen is once again in the news for the wrong reasons.
The Hong Kong star was alleged to have gotten into a heated confrontation with a flight attendant over the order of disembarkation on a recent ANA flight, and even threatened to get the crew member fired.
The incident reportedly took place on a Tokyo to New York flight on June 1.
A netizen, who was seated near him in first class, shared his account of the incident, along with a voice recording of the argument, on Xiaohongshu.
According to the post, after the plane landed, the senior crew member tried to escort a Japanese VIP passenger off the plane first.
At the same time, they asked a “middle-aged Chinese man”, who was retrieving his luggage, to step aside to clear the aisle.
The Chinese passenger reportedly took offense and demanded the reason for the request.
The crew member explained that the Japanese passenger was a VIP, which only made the Chinese passenger more furious.
Pulling out his boarding pass, he shouted in English: "Why do you want me to move for this man while I'm getting my bag? Because he's a VIP. I'm sorry, can you read [the boarding pass] again? Tell me what that says. Well, is there something above diamond [class]?
"What’s the difference between me and him?”
He then demanded a complaint form and said things like "I’ll make sure you lose your job!", wrote the netizen.
Though the netizen did not mention names, many pointed out that the voice in the recording closely resembles Edison's.
Adding to the speculation, Edison posted a photo on Instagram around the same time showing clouds from a plane window, with the caption: “FXXK IT / LET’S RIDE”.
Despite his outburst, many netizens expressed support for him, saying his anger was justified.
“He was grabbing his luggage and the crew asked him to move out of the way? That’s just disrespectful — anyone would be mad,” one wrote.
Another pointed out that there were only eight seats in first class and the Japanese VIP was just one row behind him, questioning: “Was it really necessary to insist on being the first to disembark?”
Overreacted or justified? What do you think?
