For context, British actor Nicholas plays villain Lex Luthor in the film, the arch nemesis of David’s Superman. But, thankfully, the two are far from enemies in the real world, with Nicholas detailing a seriously intimate moment that he shared with his costar during a recent appearance on Armchair Expert.

Speaking to hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, Nicholas, who is 6'3", explained that he ended up asking his costar to “hold” him after his wife, Bryana Holly, observed that he doesn’t know what it feels like to have that level of physical touch from somebody who is bigger than him.

In fact, it was actually Bryana who noted that David is of slightly bigger stature than Nicholas, which is what inspired him to ask the question.

“Silly, silly story,” Nicholas began. “I remember I was chatting to my wife one night, she was like: ‘It’s so nice to be held by someone bigger than you,’ and she was like: ‘You don’t really get that, do you?’ And I was like: ‘No, I guess I don’t.’”

“We were sitting there, and she was like: ‘Yeah, no one’s really big enough to hold you,’” Nicholas went on. “And she was like: ‘David could hold you.’ And I was like: ‘Yeah, he probably could.’”

Host Monica then joked: “Why don’t you ask him?” to which Nicholas matter-of-factly replied: “I did.” And as Monica and Dax expressed their disbelief, Nicholas added: “Yeah, he held me. And it felt warm and safe.”

Needless to say, the internet has had a field day with this wholesome revelation, with one popular comment in response to a tweet about these quotes reading: “they’re reviving bromances.”

“You have to respect his wife for fujoshing so elegantly,” one viral tweet reads, while somebody else joked: “Back in my day you’d have to scour wattpad for this kind of stuff.”

Another popular tweet hit back at claims that Nicholas was “queerbaiting” with the story, pointing out: “they’re saying it’s queerbaiting despite the fact he mentions his wife in the same sentence i can’t do this anymore.”

To which another user jokingly asked: “fellas is it queerbaiting to hug your friend.”
