Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits he has “some decisions” to make ahead of their opening Premier League match against Norwich City. The Reds travel to Carrow Road on Saturday hoping to start this season the same way they ended last campaign. After a rocky patch in the middle of the season, Liverpool roared back by winning eight of their last ten Premier League matches to finish third and qualify for the Champions League. Why is everyone writing off Liverpool this season? However, Klopp admits he might have to be patient before he gets his best team on the field in the first few weeks of the season. The Liverpool boss told reporters: “They are all here and that means we have to make selections. (Jordan) Henderson and Thiago (Alcantara) started late to train, so their pre-season started last week.“We don’t prepare for one game, we prepare for a full season with a lot of games. It’s the most intense league in the world.“Apart from that, all the others trained at least two weeks and some trained five weeks so I have exactly the situation I want – I hope it stays like this. We have no major injuries, apart from Robbo (Andy Robertson) who isn’t available and Curtis Jones – but he is fit again, it’s just the protocol which we will respect. So, that’s it, it’s a good situation. I have to make some decisions.”On the new Premier League season, Klopp added: “The most important thing is that you are ready for the competition and it’s a completely different intensity. I don’t expect 100%. I want us to develop during the season to reach our peak and keep that going for the season.“We have to be ready for all these pressure situations. It’s all interesting and I’m really excited because we all want to play proper exciting games. The league starts now and it’s very exciting.”On Virgil van Dijk’s new deal, Klopp continued: “It’s great news. The good thing is that we know him already. We’ve used him already quite successfully and we are really happy that he’s happy here. He is back on track and preparing for a very successful at this club. Imagine if we had to buy this boy now. Thank god we only had to give him a new contract.”
