'It's tough to do business': Over half of 18 sugarcane stalls at Marsiling hawker centre close due to rising costs

At its peak, Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre was home to 18 stalls selling sugarcane juice. Today, only seven are still in business.
The rest have shuttered due to the rising costs faced by the hawkers over the past few years, Chua Lay Sing, chairman of Woodlands Town Centre Merchants' Association, told Shin Min Daily News on Friday (June 21).

Let those hawkers tell their lovely donkeys what kind of policies mess they had created for you! Most Singaporean are politically nonsensitive creatures created by donkey system!

Seriously there are so many stalls selling the same stuff within one hawker centre. There should be competition to give better value and service to the consumers but not like this place housing so many of them

People are getting more health conscious… hence lesser will patronise your sugarcane stalls. 🤗

Well, you increased everything like water, electricity and rental, what do you expect? In due time, more taxes will be introduced, and more stalls will be closed. Then we all eat grass!
