This head-scratching quiz question is so hard that it left contestants on BBC quiz show Only Connect completely confused and with a 'priceless' look on their faces. Can you solve it?

Our TV screens are packed with quiz shows, but nothing is quite like BBC 's Only Connect which has a reputation for being one of the hardest out there.

The BBC Two show is deliberately difficult and contestants are left scratching their heads as they try to find correlations between seemingly unrelated clues. Knowledge will only take you so far, and patience and lateral thinking are also vital. It's all about making connections between things which may appear, at first glance, not to be connected at all.

In the first round of the quiz competition, teams must try to figure out what links four clues which are revealed one at a time. In round two all the clues form a sequence and teams must correctly identify the last clue in the sequence.

One question was so hard that it left contestants completely baffled. Can you solve the head-scratching question? Scroll down to see if you have what it takes - after all, taking part in quizzes andbrainteasersis great for our minds.

At the start of the show, back in 2021, contestants were confused when they were hit with a Russian-based translation question as 'the king has valuable yoghurt'. The English language clue was given as 'Quiz Which Elaine Read This Year'.

Totally baffled? So are we.

Presenter Victoria Coren Mitchell explained: "It's a keyboard question. The question writer here has come up with some sentences – I'm not sure they all make perfect sense in the individual languages – but they begin with the letters across the top of the keyboard as they appear in their different countries."

Viewers were left stunned by the question and took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts. One individual said: "Wow – they started with a brute! International keyboard are you kidding me?"

Another added: "The look of confusion on their faces was priceless!! I also managed to get two of the answers on the wall on #onlyconnect." "I see #onlyconnect is going to be a nightmare tonight with the first question," commented one other.

Only Connect is on BBC Two on Mondays, or can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
