Knife-carrying homeless man jailed for 5 years

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court here today sentenced a homeless man to five years’ jail for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place without a valid permit.
Judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid handed down the sentence on Mohd Jamal Idris, 39, who pleaded guilty to the offence for possession of a 35cm long knife.
He was charged under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 with possessing the knife in Jalan 3/89A, Off Jalan Cheras, here, at 10am on Aug 20.
