One year on, Jakarta has yet to follow up ideas gathered on BERiDE

Despite promising to be a platform for residents to crowdsource ideas to develop Jakarta in any way, the startup BERiDE has yet to gain traction after a year since launching as none of the ideas posted on the website have been followed up by the Jakarta administration. Launched in May 2018 by then-Jakarta deputy governor Sandiaga Uno, the website is expected to complement the city’s complaint-handling system, where residents are expected to give ideas instead of filing complaints. The platform is still available at jakarta.beride.id where anyone can register to post their ideas and to view ideas posted by others.
