Police say wife hired hit men in Riau to assault husband, not kill him

The police say a 45-year-old woman in Sungai Apit district, Siak regency, Riau, is suspected of masterminding a deadly assault on her husband by hiring two hit men. The woman, a resident of Mengkapan village identified as Sinde Silitonga, allegedly paid the assailants Rp 100,000 (US$7.30) to be shared between the two of them, the Siak Police said. Siak Police and Sungai Apit Police’s criminal investigation units uncovered the alleged murder plot after investigators arrested over the weekend two men suspected of beating Sinde’s husband, Marison Simaremare, 47, to death in a house where swallow’s nests were cultivated. Marison, who was the caretaker of the house, was found dead after allegedly being beaten with wooden sticks by two men, who the police have identified as Roberto Manulang, 27, and Linus Hia Harefa, 21, inside the house at 1 a.m. on Saturday....
