Jambi, Palembang residents feel the choke of continued haze

A recent update from the Environment and Forestry Ministry revealed that the air quality in Jambi had reached 126 AQI, which means the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups. The Jambi administration has suggested the public limit outdoor activities, as well as put on masks when going outside to prevent themselves from inhaling the polluted air.  However, schools are open as usual even though some parents feel concerned about the situation.  “So far we have yet to receive an announcement from schools on closing,” Via, a parent of an elementary school student in Jambi said on Friday.
