Two years of Anies: People satisfied but corruption still high, survey finds

A survey held approximately one month before the second anniversary of Anies Baswedan’s governorship on Oct. 16, 2019, has revealed that 82 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with Anies, although 28.3 percent of respondents said that corruption and illegal fees were still rampant within the administration. The Center for Social, Political, Economic and Law Studies (CESPELS) conducted the survey, which involved 1,012 Jakarta residents across the capital’s five municipalities and one regency from Sept. 9 to 13. The respondents were asked to rate their level of satisfaction in eight indicators: social environment, infrastructure, corruption, bureaucracy, poverty, leadership, happiness and fulfillment of campaign promises. “We ourselves were surprised by our findings, but we are presenting them as they are,” CESPELS executive director Ubedillah...
