KUANTAN: Culling exercises by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) on Pulau Tioman saw 12 monitor lizards caught and disposed of yesterday evening.

Its director Rozidan Md Yasin said the reptiles were caught using a special trap during the operation from 3pm to 6pm.

"We are confident there are more monitor lizards on the island because that is naturally their habitat. Monitoring and scheduled operations will continue from time to time.
