SIBU: Eleven couples registered their marriage at Sibu Foochow Association premises yesterday.

The date, Nov 11, 2019 is considered an auspicious day for wedding as 11.11 bears the connotation of being together forever.

Marriage registrar Lau Pick Tai was present since 1pm to help with the couples’ registration.

Ting Pei Chi, 28, and her husband Hii King Huat, 29, were one of the couples who chose the date to register their marriage.

“Nov 11 has a great significance for us.

“Ever since we were together four years ago, we had decided that Nov 11 will be our special day.

“Every year, we went travelling on this date. This year, we decided to travel to Sibu on this date to have our marriage registered,” Ting said.

The couple is currently working in Bintulu; Ting as a nurse in the general hospital while Hii is a banker.

According to Ting, they met at a church while they were both in Kuching.

“We actually knew each other before because we went to the same church which was Siong Dao Methodist Church in Kuching. It was only four years ago, we decided to be together and now we decided that we are going to spend our lives together,” she said.
