Anies’ team of aides under scrutiny over budget, performance

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan’s team of aides has once again come under scrutiny during 2020 city budget deliberation. City councillors, questioning the effectiveness of the team, has urged the administration to cut down on the number of aides. The Jakarta Legislative Council had set the draft 2020 city budget at Rp 87.95 trillion (US$6.29 billion), up 1.22 percent from the revised 2019 budget at Rp 86.89 trillion, the smallest increase in recent years. The draft would officially be endorsed pending approval from the Home Ministry on Jan. 7, 2020, at the latest. Besides focusing on the management of traffic congestion and floods, the council also highlighted the need for the city administration to streamline the Governor’s Team for Accelerated Development (TGUPP) next year.
