GOF rescues 30 caged protected birds in farmhouse

SIBU: Thirty wild birds of various species were rescued during an operation conducted by the 10th Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) in Kanowit late Friday afternoon.
According to deputy commanding officer DSP Friediel Nyambong, the birds are categorised as protected species and could fetch a total price of RM24,000 in the exotic animals market.
He said a raid was conducted on a house in Bawan Farm, located at KM2 of Jalan Tuah, off Jalan Nibong in Kanowit at around 4pm, following a tip-off.
