RIYADH (AFP) - Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (March 4) suspended the year-round "umrah" pilgrimage over fears of the new coronavirus spreading to Islam's holiest cities, an unprecedented move that raises fresh uncertainty over the annual haj.
The kingdom said the suspension was provisional, but with the umrah attracting millions of people annually, the decision has a huge potential impact.
